Bronze Pelican

The Bronze Pelican Award of the Diocese of Tulsa may be presented to any adult involved in Catholic Scouting, Camp Fire or other similar youth organizations within the Tulsa Diocese. The Tulsa Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting and Camp Fire provides the Bronze Pelican Emblem to Scouters and others as recognition of their efforts in developing, in Catholic youth, the habitual awareness of God in all their scouting or other youth activities. A recommendation for this award should include all pertinent facts, dates, and positions held., The history should be as complete as possible. Service to Catholic youth or in Catholic sponsored units should be clearly identified. 

Minimum Requirements

A nominee must be involved in some Catholic phase of Boy Scouting, Girl Scouting, Camp Fire, or similar Catholic youth activity for a minimum of three years.

A nominee must have completed Catholic Scouter Development. Those retired from active participation in Scouting, Camp Fire or other programs prior to 1978 are exempted from this requirement.

A nominee must be approved by their pastor, A recommendation from the pastor will be considered as an indication of the active standing of the nominee within the Church.

The Bronze Pelican if for adults, men or women, working in any of the Diocesan sponsored programs of Boy Scouts, Camp Fire or Girl Scouts. They should have been active in the Religious Emblem or Retreat Programs and have made a significant contribution to youth. Completion of Scouter Development is required.

The Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Award is for adults who have made contributions of a notable nature to the spiritual development of youth. They may have made this contribution through any church sponsored program serving youth. It is available to both lay and religious leaders. Previous receipt of the Bronze Pelican Award is required.

The Saint Anne Medal is a national award for adults who have made outstanding contributions in any program that serves youth. It is made by the United States Catholic Conference at the recommendation of the Bishop. In the Tulsa Diocese, a recipient of this medal must have previously received the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Award.
